headspace Bundaberg

In 2020 Youth Insearch and headspace Bundaberg joined forces to support at-risk youth in the Bundaberg region. Youth Insearch has found that when social workers assist young people in a single community, they are able to provide tailored support to each young person on a one-on-one basis and connect them with appropriate support services.

headspace Bundaberg is operated by Youturn Youth Support, a not-for-profit based in the Noosa region. Their support includes Child Safety, Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and Homelessness. This partnership enables shared referral pathways, a shared space to work from, and a venue to hold Support Groups right in the heart of Bundaberg.

CONNECT WITH HEADSPACE BUNDABERG

Youth Insearch Social Worker, Adam Klimkiewicz, briefs young people referred by headspace Bundaberg and offers engagement in weekly peer support groups, both virtually and face-to-face, where they are supported by other young people with lived experience of trauma. Adam’s role will help the team work more closely with case coordination.

Adam said his focus would be on supporting and working with local young people experiencing adversity in their lives.

“My experience in providing therapeutic interventions for both young people and families has given me a strong understanding of the issues faced by young people,”

Young people also engage in the Youth Insearch Weekend Workshops, both virtually and face-to-face, where they will participate in group therapy sessions that support the young people to address childhood trauma, including neglect, family violence and sexual abuse.
