What is the Target Group?

Any young people in Secondary school who are between the ages of 12 - 18 years.
Those unable to attend the program are sexual offenders, young people who are in an acute stage of mental illness and those who are unable to cope without non prescribed drugs or alcohol for a weekend.

How does Youth Insearch Work?

All young people and their support person are briefed by a representative from Youth Insearch before they attend their first camp. This ensures that they have an understanding of the program and want to attend. A group of young people attend with a support person from their own geographical area or school.

The Camps

The camps are conducted over a 48 hour period from Friday night finishing Sunday afternoon, in which approximately 65 people attend. A safe and trusting environment is created allowing young people to feel comfortable to discuss issues of an emotional nature. These issues may be related to family breakdown, bullying, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, suicide and grief.

Networking and Aftercare

Support after a camp is essential for all participants to reinforce new goals and directions taken at the camp. This is achieved at Support Groups and also networking with young people from the Camp. If further Counselling is required then the Support Adult can help with this.

Who are Support People?

Support people are integral to the success of the program. They fulfill a mentoring role, providing support and motivation for the young participants. They are required to comply with legislation requiring child protection screening.

Youth Insearch Camps are conducted for young people between 12-18 years of age.
The Camps are facilitated by Youth Leaders, many of whom can relate to what you have experienced because they may have been through similiar situations.
Youth Insearch is about empowering young people.
